Post COVID-19 Syndrome (also called “Long COVID”) is when people still feel sick weeks or even months after having COVID-19. Even if their original illness was mild, they may have lasting symptoms that affect their daily life.
Causes
Doctors are still learning why some people get Long COVID, but it may be linked to:
• The body’s immune system reacting too strongly
• Damage to organs like the lungs, heart, or brain
• Ongoing inflammation in the body
Symptoms
Symptoms can be different for each person, but common ones include:
• Feeling very tired all the time
• Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
• Brain fog (trouble thinking clearly or remembering things)
• Chest pain or fast heartbeat
• Joint or muscle aches
• Trouble sleeping
• Feeling dizzy when standing up
